After Sale TLC

Prior to arriving on your property the rams are up to date with their animal health programme.
Rams all get a Cydectin long acting injection in November, plus all rams receive a Covexin 10 vaccine.
(It is also a good idea to vaccinate all your older rams with a Covexin each year at this time...it is a good vaccine thats covers a wider range of disease than regular 5 in 1 clostridial vaccines do not).
Rams have all been vet tested prior to sale, and are accredited brucellosis free.
The following is a guideline for after purchase care
- Upon arrival a treatment for fly control may be necessary. Then you can go on holiday !
- Keep your recently purchased rams separate from older rams until after their first season.
- From the time of arrival provide preferential feeding as they are young and still growing out.
- One month prior to mating flush them on good quality feed. Looking after young rams in their first season is a cheap investment over that ram's lifetime of use.
- Older Rams should be shorn at least 2 months prior to mating. Ram performance and semen quality can be affected otherwise.
- Your ram flock needs on-going care, especially when the rams come out from ewes after mating. Ensure you have a good feeding, drench and vaccinating (covexin) programme for your ram mob.
